Badges and verification
A badge on Bynesh tells you we checked something. Here’s what each one means, and why nobody can buy one.
What a badge on Bynesh means
- Verified Page
- We confirmed that the organisation behind the Page controls its official website and email, and a moderator approved it.
- Verified person
- We checked who this person is. We aren’t taking new identity checks for personal accounts at the moment, so you’ll only see this on accounts that were checked before.
- No badge
- An ordinary account. It can vote on any poll that’s open to it, and its vote counts the same as everyone else’s.
People vote. Pages don’t.
A Page stands for an organisation, a newsroom, a brand, a creator or a community. Pages can post polls and be run by a team, but they can’t vote, verified or not. Every vote on Bynesh comes from a person’s own account.
How a Page gets verified
- Add the official website
Start with the website people already know as the organisation’s home.
- Use an email address on the same domain
For example, press@example.org for example.org. A free email address won’t do.
- Enter the code we send
We email a short code from noreply@pluria.org to that address. Whoever runs the Page enters it in the app.
- Wait for a moderator
A person approves the request, turns it down, or asks the Page for more information.
Why a person still reviews every request
The code only proves that someone can read that inbox. A moderator decides whether the Page gets the badge. They can check the website, ask for more evidence, turn down a request that looks misleading, or take a badge away later.
Paying doesn’t buy trust
There’s nothing to buy on Bynesh right now, so no badge on Bynesh means someone paid. If we ever add a paid plan, it won’t buy a verified badge, the right to vote, or extra weight for anyone’s vote.
